michelle garcia king is a writer, author, and educator based in pittsburgh, pennsylvania. she hails from the northern virginia suburbs of washington d.c.
michelle’s work centers around grief, identity, nostalgia, queerness, love in its many varied forms, and the weird and often whimsical places we call home. her debut publication, cul-de-sac angels, is an ode to a filipino american girlhood.
michelle was the poet laureate of prince william county, manassas, and manassas park, virginia from 2022-2024—at 21, she was the youngest poet laureate to ever hold the title.
michelle graduated summa cum laude from virginia tech in 2021 with dual bachelor of arts degrees in english literature and communication. she is currently pursuing graduate studies at point park university, working toward a master’s degree in english secondary education. she hopes to teach high school language arts and creative writing.
in her free time, you can find michelle haunting the local antique shop, library, or museum. she loves many things: crafting, music, and spending time with her husband, andrew, and their sweet kitten, yoshi.
